The role
We are looking for an Automation Tester to join our long-term partnership with ICA, one of Scandinavia's largest retail companies.
This is a full-time, on-site position in Sarajevo, with a planned start date in November 2026.
The engagement is not limited to a predefined end date.
You will join a collaborative development team working in a DevOps environment where quality assurance is an integral part of the complete software development lifecycle.
This role requires strong hands-on experience with Playwright, TypeScript, PL/SQL, API testing, and database validation.
Project
You will work on business-critical applications within ICA Retail, supporting pricing calculations, supply chain processes, and the management of product and order data used by ICA stores.
The systems include complex business logic, backend workflows, integrations, staging tables, and data-processing flows. Some applications are also being modernized and migrated from on-premises infrastructure to the cloud.
Your responsibility will be to combine UI automation, API testing, backend verification, and database validation to ensure that functionality and data remain accurate throughout the complete system flow.
The work includes:
- Developing and maintaining automated UI tests using Playwright and TypeScript
- Building and maintaining automated regression coverage
- Testing APIs using Postman and Newman
- Validating backend workflows, integrations, staging tables, and data-processing flows
- Testing PL/SQL-based functionality and validating data using SQL
- Performing positive, negative, boundary, and exploratory testing
- Investigating defects across applications, APIs, integrations, and databases
- Participating throughout development, testing, deployment, and production support
- Working with end-to-end responsibility in a DevOps environment
- Collaborating with colleagues in Bosnia and Herzegovina and Sweden
Requirements:
- 4+ years of professional software testing experience
- Strong hands-on experience with Playwright for UI test automation
- Practical experience with TypeScript
- Practical experience with PL/SQL
- Experience with Postman and Newman for API testing
- Experience testing backend workflows, integrations, staging tables, or ETL-style processes
- Strong SQL knowledge and experience validating data using SQL queries
- Experience with SQL Developer or a comparable database tool
- Experience building and maintaining automated regression tests
- Strong understanding of positive, negative, boundary, and exploratory test design
- Experience working on business-critical applications
- Experience working in a DevOps environment with end-to-end ownership
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills
- Good English communication skills
Nice to have:
- Experience with Oracle databases and complex data models
- Experience testing data-processing or supply-chain systems
- Experience with cloud migration projects
- Experience with CI/CD integration
- Experience with Jira or Azure DevOps
- Experience with performance testing
- Previous experience in retail, pricing, supply chain, or order management
- ISTQB Foundation or another relevant testing certification
