The role
We are looking for an experienced Senior Data Engineer to join our long-term partnership with ICA Banken.
This is a full-time position based in Sarajevo, with remote work possible and occasional visits to the Sarajevo office. The planned start date is September 2026.
We are looking for senior engineers, but strong Medior candidates with solid DBT experience are also encouraged to apply.
Project
You will work on designing and implementing a cloud-based data platform on Google Cloud Platform (GCP). The platform focuses on onboarding data through file-based, API-based, and event-driven pipelines, while creating reusable, domain-oriented analytical data products aligned with Data Mesh principles.
You will collaborate closely with platform, analytics, and business teams to deliver reliable, scalable, and well-governed data solutions that support data-driven decision making across the organization.
The work includes
- Designing, developing, and maintaining scalable data ingestion pipelines
- Building analytical data products using DBT
- Developing analytical data models for reporting and analytics
- Implementing and supporting CI/CD pipelines using GitHub
- Working with file-based, API-based, and Kafka-based ingestion patterns
- Ensuring data quality, reliability, and maintainability through testing and monitoring
- Collaborating with platform and domain teams to onboard new data sources and evolve existing data products
Requirements:
- Minimum 5 years of professional data engineering experience
- Strong hands-on experience with DBT (must-have)
- Proven experience with file-based, API-based, and event-driven (Kafka) data ingestion
- Experience designing, building, and maintaining scalable data pipelines
- Strong understanding of analytical data modelling techniques (dimensional, denormalized, and domain-oriented models)
- Experience implementing CI/CD using GitHub and GitHub Actions
- Good understanding of Google Cloud Platform, including BigQuery, Cloud Storage, Pub/Sub, Dataflow, and Cloud Composer
- Practical understanding of Data Mesh concepts and domain-oriented data products
- Experience with Python and Java
- Experience working in Agile teams using Jira
- Fluent English communication skills
