Senior Frontend Engineer (React / Next.js)

The role

We are looking for an experienced Senior Frontend Engineer to join our long-term partnership with ICA Banken, one of Scandinavia's leading digital banking organizations.

This is a full-time, on-site position in Sarajevo.

You will join the ICA Banken Web Development team, working closely with Swedish and Bosnian colleagues to develop, maintain, and continuously improve ICA Banken's customer-facing web platform.

This is a senior, high-ownership role where you are expected not only to implement solutions, but also to contribute to technical decisions, challenge existing approaches, propose improvements, and independently drive development forward.

You will also contribute to knowledge sharing and support less experienced developers, helping raise the overall technical level.

Project

You will work on icabanken.se, developing new features and enhancing existing functionality for ICA Banken's digital services.

The team is relatively small and developers often work independently within different initiatives. This requires a high level of ownership, proactive communication, and self-leadership, as well as the ability to move work forward even when requirements or direction are not fully defined.

The team is focused on delivering scalable, high-quality web solutions while continuously improving performance, architecture, code quality, and user experience.

The work includes

• Developing new features and maintaining existing functionality using React and TypeScript
• Working with modern React concepts, including React Server Components
• Contributing to technical and architectural decisions
• Building and maintaining scalable, high-performance web applications
• Improving performance, modularization, dependency management, and maintainability in a large codebase
• Taking ownership of development tasks and independently driving work forward
• Exploring alternative solutions and challenging existing approaches
• Participating actively in technical discussions and code reviews
• Collaborating proactively with developers, Test, UX, Product Owners, and other stakeholders
• Proposing new ideas and contributing to shaping the best possible solutions for the product
• Sharing knowledge, supporting less experienced developers, and helping raise the technical level of the team
• Contributing to the continuous improvement of the product and development process

Requirements:

• Extensive professional experience in frontend/web development, with a proven senior-level track record
• Strong hands-on experience with React, Next.js, and TypeScript
• Strong understanding and practical experience with React Server Components
• Solid understanding of Next.js architecture and rendering approaches
• Deep understanding of scalable web architecture, including modularization and dependency management
• Strong knowledge of performance optimization, particularly in large and complex web applications
• Experience with Node.js
• Ability to clearly explain, justify, and challenge technical decisions, including different approaches and trade-offs
• Strong understanding of clean code principles and code quality
• Strong self-leadership and ownership, with the ability to work independently and prioritize effectively
• Ability to maintain a high delivery pace without constant supervision
• Proactive problem-solving mindset, with the ability to explore alternatives, challenge the status quo, and drive solutions forward
• Strong communication skills and willingness to actively participate in technical and product discussions
• Ability to contribute new ideas and help shape solutions, rather than only implementing predefined requirements
• Strong experience working in Agile/Scrum environments
• Experience using Jira
• Fluent English communication skills
